The Valuation Appeal Board hearings, which were initially scheduled to take place during November 2023, will unfortunately have to be postponed to January/February 2024.
The reason for the delay is that one of the board members has resigned on short notice. The appointment of a new member is a lengthy process prescribed by the Municipal Property Rates Act (Act 6 of 2004) which involves the Western Cape MEC for Local Government, who must appoint an independent Valuation Appeals Board.
Appellants will receive their 21-day notices during January 2024 notifying them of the date and time of the Valuation Appeal Board hearings.
